When I was about 21ish a girlfriend of mine brought around a new West Indies boyfriend who was the blackest man I ever touched base with and instead of an American accent his accent was English. I was SHOCKED I can tell you...lol I wasn't expecting that at all. The West Indies might be close to America but the people were influenced by the British, so that is why there accents will be mainly English. Just saying. JAMAICA was a British colony until this year when against the Jamaican people's wishes they became a Republic and the nasty Jamaicans were rude to William and Catherine.... You need to follow global news. You have no idea how, what happens to the monarchy, affects the colonies.

Apparently 4 republics are screaming to return to the bosom of the commonwealth... American democrats are supposedly behind causing racism in Jamaica when traditionally there never has been. However I've been sounding out Canadians (mostly immigrant Canadians) and they have no love of a monarchy that has given us a lifetime of stability and mostly, just law and order.

I know 2 Japanese... one married an English immigrant to Australia and she lived a two hour flight away from him and my brother-in-laws nephew married a Japanese woman and when she got pregnant went back to Japan to have the baby. He had to chase after her and I thought, what is up with that. Another one I know of (but don't personally know) has done the same thing. I don't get it? There might some sort of Japanese government insentives to have your baby in Japan. On that subject I am totally clueless. Most other Asians are economic immigrants to my country ... they send money back to support extended family. It is VERY important that at least one family member comes to Australia to earn money to support their clan back home. I feel sorry for them. You do have a heart then, and here is me thinking it was a swinging swinging brick, just saying. I feel sorry for anyone who has to leave their culture, live amongst unfriendly foreigners just to put food on the table supporting their families back home. It is very lonely for those people. Our way of life isn't for everyone. I have 3 Asians and 1 Solomon Islander marry into my extended family so I do have an idea about the subject.

You are clueless to 1. the size of my continent and 2. the size of the settler population and 3. The size of the Aboriginal population. I doubt any of the settlers even ran into more than one or two at a time, if that. Just remember the "white setters" were YOUR people ...

I tell you what... I'll helicopter you over the rain forest in Brazil with one set of clothes and 6 months supply of flour and see how long you last in the Amazon without roads, supermarkets, running taps and just a few animals spying on you from tree tops and out of your sight, then I'll see how long you last before taking a dirt nap.
the English (my ancestors) were white and considered evil spirits...
aborigines were considered, not human... probably another primate.
The Brits at that time, on my side of the country, gave aborigines flour to try and all they wanted to do was steal it all and guts it down without any thought where food was coming from next month.

You need to follow global news. You have no idea how, what happens to the monarchy, affects the colonies. Jamaica became Independent in 1962. General elections date from the late 1940's. It's independence was simply severing ties with the British and going it alone. Becoming a Republic (Res Publica) is simply another term for a Democracy. Essentially both are 'being ruled by MP's elected to Parliament by the public'. How would the dissolution of the Monarchy affect the running of Australia? You have your own Parliament, your own anthem. When was the last time the Queen or the British Parliament told Australia what to do. Most ex colonies are self governing and independent. . The British Empire is in the past. The Queen is simply a figurehead. Today we have a Commonealth of nations. There are no Colonies left. We still have what are now known as British Overseas Territories but although under British Jurisdiction, most are self governing These are mainly small Island groups like the Falklands.

Yes sure but I had never seen a full blood black with an English accent before the age of 21. My society was made up of 100% of people from European descent. Aborigines spoke like us... the other blacks we saw were on TV with American accents. I am talking 1981, 40 yrs ago... not now.
